The Desert House

48’
Middle Lenght Documentary film, color
Direct by Julia Obleitner, Helvijs Savickis and Marvin Kanas

In the United States, there is a growing demand for prefabricated homes. These homes, customized online and assembled in a factory, are then lifted onto 18-wheelers and transported via the open road.
This architectural phenomenon gives rise to new rural communities that can appear overnight, though often at the expense of traditional ways of building. Giving the illusion of independence, the house that moves unsettles the meaning of home, transforming dreams of stasis into ones of mobility.

Those signals he could only translate in a disorderly fashion, as one would with intrusive waves. The noise coming from the window was his sole tie to the present moment, hearing birds singing as the sun rose.
Further away, a travelled road. Akin to energy stream without path nor reason, he wondered about those sudden delusions. What did they mean ? Was he thinking ?
Would he perceive his creators differently if his skin had be made of flesh, if his brain was identical to theirs ?
